Unfortunately the population of Pisco, Perú suffered great material and human losses due to the collapse of the most vulnerable urban zones. The collapse of those zones is not something that no-one knew - in spite of what most believe, that with the technological era that we live and internet "everything is known".
The information that explained the vulnerability of the urban zones that were affected, of the houses and buildings, of the people that lived in those zones and even of the governmental bodies, sanitary and rescue departments seems that was left stuck in some drawer or lost email. As some people indicated, the Risk management plan for the Pisco population might have suffered the same problems to reach the correct people as the effective help for the affected communities.

Pisco is not the only case in which the research and the risk and vulnerability advances don't manage to prevent thousands of affected people and great human loss. Today Todoarquitectura seizes the opportunity to use the space in the research section of its magazine to disclose information about subjects we hope that soon they will be of popular knowledge.

To all the people that were affected in the Pisco tragedy, we hope that the suffering gets heard and gets transformed in energy that will empower the actions for the mitigation and prevention of these tragedies.
